What is Bucks for Bernie?
Bucks for Bernie is a 24 Hour Track Relay Race that will raise funds for the Kennett High School Track and Field Program. The Bernie in Bucks for Bernie is Bernie Livingston, the cross country/track and field coach at Kennett High School for over three decades. The first Bucks for Bernie occurred in 1993 and was set up to raise funds to send Bernie to coaching school to get his USATF Coaching Certification. This year’s event will be to raise funds for the team. Our goal is $10,000.
What Size is a Team?
A team is made up of ten-people: runners, walkers, mix, all male, all female, age……you name it!
What is the Entry Fee
The Entry fee is $100.00 per runner and includes a shirt. ALL PROCEEDS GO DIRECTLY TO BERNIE’S RUNNERS for uniforms, stop watches, and other items not funded by the school district.
How Does it Work?
Each runner/walker completes either 4 laps (1600 meters/1 metric mile) or 8 laps (3200 meters/2 metric miles) and then passes off to a teammate.
Based on a 9-minute mile average (if your mates were to run that) if you ran 4 laps, each individual would run a mile every one hour 20 minutes, and complete 16 miles over the 24 hours…..YOU CAN DO THIS!
Teams time themselves. We will provide the clock, tables, recording forms, etc.
When I am not running, can I sleep?
You may sleep at the track in tents or bring an RV to park by the track. There will NOT be septic or power for the RVs….just a parking place.
We will have bathroom facilities open and/or porta potties.
We are working on having the concession stand open for food but be prepared to bring your own food if that does not work
PLEASE talk this up with friends!!! This is a great opportunity for business, organizations, friends, etc to spend time together and put money
to a great cause.
What is the Goal?
Our goal is to raise $10,000.00 for these students…….WE CAN DO IT!
